+ What do I really want to do? +

I had worked at IT Company in Japan before coming to Canada. The job was interesting but I felt that I didn't want to work there all my life. When I asked myself what I really wanted to do again and again, my mind wasn't clear but I found that I wanted to try living in foreign countries and working in education. To tell the truth, I thought about this before, but I had pretended that I had no chance because everything, not only business but also private, was going smoothly. But I didn't want to lie to myself anymore. I took very slow steps but I tried to think about my future very seriously.

+ The U.S was World +

When I started to think about living in a foreign country, it meant the U.S. because almost all of the foreign information around me was from the U.S. It was very natural for me to think that the U.S. was not only foreign country but also the world itself! One day, however, I talked with my friend and she said to me that the world is not only the U.S. It was just only one phrase, but this phrase made me open my mind to think about other countries. I might have thought about this before, but I was just waiting for someone to tell me it. anyway, it is true that her phrase moved me.

+ No Bad Reasons +

I wanted to start myself from scratch. I searched for candidate countries where English is the primary language, somewhere I have never been, somewhere that is safe, somewhere that is not so hot, somewhere that is not so urban and rural, a country where I will be able to get along with people and relax.... Maybe it is Canada (Should I think positive? Yeah, I know, but this was reality...). I had thought that it was not so hard for me to live in Canada; however, it was not true because my English is not good and I am trying to change my career. When I had no idea how to try living in Canada, I found a good program. It was the Working Holiday Program. I thought that it was a very good chance for me whether I will be able to do something in Canada or not. I couldn't waste time, and I took the first step!

+ My Decision Day +

I attended a Canada Working Holiday Seminar produced by The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (CCCJ) on November 25th, 2004. This seminar was held in Tokyo when I had been preparing for my application. It was very good timing. I could become clear with what is the Working Holiday Program through talking with the officers, the experienced participants, and people who planned to participant in this program like me. My motivation had increased by the exchanges and I had decided that I would go to Canada.

+ The Capital City of Canada +

I decided to my destination was Ottawa because it is the capital city of Canada. I thought that a capital city is good for me to learn about the country. Additionally, Ottawa has the Canadian Association of the Deaf (CAD). I am interested in the Deaf culture and Sign Language. I also had been a Sign Language interpreter in Japan. And I want to communicate with Canadian Deaf people, know Canadian Deaf culture, and learn ASL (American Sign Language which is the language for Canadian Deaf people who are in the English area) while I stay in Canada. Ottawa is an attractive city for me!
