+ Mazin Go! +

I was invited to my Canadian friend's home party. He made vegetable soup, chicken sauté, beef rib grill, etc. These were very good! When I finished eating those dishes, he started playing his original DVD. It was the DVD that consisted of Japanese super robot animations' theme songs! He loves Japanese super robot animations such as Mazingar Z, Gren-dizer, Dangard Ace... I didn't expect that I would hear these animation songs in Canada! These songs reminded me of my childhood. He downloaded these songs and grouped them into generations by year. Wow, wow, wow. He also showed us his collections, which are figures, plastic models, and so on. I could understand how much he loves robot animation well. I was very happy because these kinds of Japanese animations are loved by Canadians.

I think that "Mazingar Z" is a good animation for Canadians because the last "Z" is pronounced "zed" not "zee" eh! (Well...actually, the correct Japanese pronunciation is "zetto")

Anyways, Mazin Go!

+ It snowed! +

Yeah!!! It snowed! I love snow because it is beautiful, enjoyable, and a little bit sentimental. The snow is one of my images of Canada! It let me realize that I am in Canada. It has been seven months since I came to Canada. I don't know how cold it will be but my Canadian friends told me that it will be minus 30 or 40 degrees. Wow it's interesting. Now I'm excited because I am at the entrance of such an incredible new world! Will I have icicles from my nose?

Almost all of my friends told me that I could say I love winter because I haven't experienced winter in Ottawa. After I experience Ottawa's winter, will I be able to say I love winter again?

Hey, come on winter!! (no, sorry, please come slowly...)

+ Electronic Blanket +

It is cold. My apartment has a central heating system but it hasn't been working yet. Hummmm. The other day, when I was window shopping, I saw a wonderful thing. It was an electronic blanket! I thought that it is for senior people but I have heard that it will get sooooooo cold in January and February and the blanket was also on sale and I also like electronic things so, I.. I... Yes, I bought it :-P And I used it. Wow, it was good! I had a good warm sleep. I thought that I will be able to enjoy winter life without catching a cold thanks to this blanket.

+ Fahrenheit +

While I was wondering why the heater hasn't been working, I noticed the equipment that is on the wall of my room. It is round, gold coloured, and it has some numbers. Yeah, I have seen the same one in some movies and a TV commercial.

thermostat

Maybe... this is a thermostat? Well, well, well... could I turn on the heater by adjusting this? I tried to turn hummm right? left? Anyways, I turned it. Yeah, the warm air came from the vent on the wall. The heating system was already working but I just didn't understand how to turn it on. Oh, boy...

But a problem still remains. The thermostat uses the Fahrenheit scale! Hey, hey, what is 60ºF? 70ºF? Please tell me the degrees in Celsius! This is Canada not the U.S.

The following day, my Canadian friend told me that around 20 years ago, Fahrenheit was also used in Canada and now, it is not popular but I can still see the Fahrenheit scale.

For my health, I had better learn how to change the degrees from Fahrenheit to Celsius, eh?

    The formula is: C = (F-32)/1.8
          0ºF = -17.8ºC
         10ºF = -12.2ºC
         20ºF = -6.7ºC
         30ºF = -1.1ºC
         40ºF = 4.4ºC
         50ºF = 10.0ºC
         60ºF = 15.6ºC
         70ºF = 21.1ºC
         80ºF = 26.7ºC
         90ºF = 32.2ºC
        100ºF = 37.8ºC

What is this?

I won't do it!
