+ Time, Degrees, Millimetres, and Dub +

Today I want to introduce about Russian TV. You can watch 12? or 13? channels in Irkutsk by air (a TV channel depends on the wave condition...). Of course, if you get a cable TV, you will be able to watch not only NHK WORLD, but also other a lot of channels. Well, almost all of the channels have three or four parts those are Time, Degrees, Logo, and Millimetres; like this. (Degrees and millimetres are alternative in a few seconds, it depends on the channel.)

TV

(Today, it is minus 36 degrees.)

When I came to Irkutsk, it was very interesting for me to watch the degrees on TV. However, now I can understand how important it is. Because, you know, buildings in Irkutsk, where is colder than freezer, have enough winterization. Actually, during in my dormitory, I don't notice how cold the outside. If I left from my dormitory without enough winter cloths because the room was not cold, I would be dying.

The millimetres are degrees of a column of mercury. One barometrical pressure is 760mm. Well, according to my student, to know the degrees is very important for our health. Of course I can understand the idea, however, I have never thought about such influence by barometrical pressure. It is very interesting.

And the Dub.

Well, a lot of non-Russian language movies or TV programs are broadcasted and most of cases such movies/programs are dubbed into Russian. However, the original audio language was not deleted. Yeah, you listen to a couple languages in simultaneously. And, sometimes, there was only one narrator. Humm, interesting.

To know the time, the temperature, the barometrical pressures, and to listen a couple language by TV.

This is the Russian style!

+ Everyday Scratch +

I have enjoyed the Irkutsk life which is under minus twenty degrees in Celsius. In my Irkutsk life, the most troublesome is this,

Window

This is a window of a bus. Well, all of windows, except the front window, are frozen! You know, in Irkutsk, during I'm taking a bus, I have to check where I am each second because all of buses doesn't make any announces and I don't want to get the over the rainbow again. However, such frozen window prevents me of checking the outside. How do people who live in Irkutsk get to know there is the bus stop where they should get off? There are two ways.

One is just scratch, scratch, and scratch the window! Finally you will get a very small hole of the ice. If you look the outside from the small window with your concentrations, you will be able to find where you are.

The other is just to believe your feeling. "Well, it took around 15 minutes, okay, move to near the door" or "now, I felt the bus turned left quickly, okay, move to near the door."

Actually, the latter is only for the people who have a lot of experiences on the root.

Well, I scratch everyday in Irkutsk even though there is no prise.
